For Promise Falls resident Lucy Brighton, the shock of her fathers death is made worse when she convinces herself that someone has broken into his house, even though nothing seems to have been taken. But when she asks private investigator Cal Weaver to look into it, she quickly wishes she hadnt. .
Cal discovers a secret playroom in the basement, complete with video equipment, and it looks as if one of the recordings is missing.
If it was just an incriminating sex tape, that would be disturbing enough, but when people in Promise Falls start dying in mysterious circumstances, Cal begins to wonder if the tape contains something even more shocking.
