    Если вы думаете прочитать небольшой рассказ, то прочтите этот. Это будет лучший рассказ, который вы когда-либо читали. Джеймс Джойс написал своей дочери, что это «величайшая история, которую знает мировая литература». Действительно шедевр! Вечная история. Чудесный Лев Толстой действительно уловил мрачную сторону человеческой натуры всего за несколько страниц. Он использует жадность фермера как аллегорию постоянно растущего честолюбия человека. Того, что есть у человека, никогда не бывает достаточно; он всегда пытается идти вперед, чтобы понять большие вещи. Но в этом заключается крайняя опасность переоценить себя. Человек может зайти так далеко, пока не уничтожит себя. Восторг.
