The book is devoted to traditional pottery, the peoples favorite kind of decorative and applied art. It contains unique and interesting facts about the well-known ancient craft centers, separate almost forgotten handicraft industries, leading Russian production enterprises of the second half of the 20th century and modern developing centers of pottery. The book also presents works of a number of modern potters who are true to the traditions of the art of pottery. The aim of the present edition is to show all the variety of cultural sources and artistic styles of the folk pottery centers as well as the succession of the unique traditions which found their reflection in the art of talented masters and artists of the present time.
